Summer 2008 BANG Weekend at the Yellow Monkey in Ogunquit, Maine

Announcing the sixth BANG weekend at the Yellow Monkey Guest Houses. Enjoy summer’s arrival by spending a nude weekend with BANG in Ogunquit at The Yellow Monkey Guest Houses, on Main Street in Ogunquit, conveniently located near the beach, restaurants and bars.

As with the previous Ogunquit events, BANG has reserved the entire Tara Cottage as “BANG Central.” But this time, we have also reserved some pet-friendly rooms adjacent to the Tara Cottage, and dropped rooms in some of the other buildings which were further away. Refer to the table below for the room availability and price list. You will notice a price increase from last year’s prices. This is due to the timing of the event. In the past, we were able to reserve the third weekend in June, which has been the last weekend before the beginning of summer, thus enjoying the off-season rates. This year, summer arrives on the third weekend, resulting in “high-season” rates. Because of our friendly relationship and good track record with the Yellow Monkey, we were able to arrange a significant discount from the “high-season” rates and keep the same weekend. As before, we will have exclusive use of the Tara Cottage and are free to be nude anywhere within this building, outdoors on the attached sundeck at the rear of the building, as well as on the adjacent lawn for activities such as BBQ and volleyball or just lounging in the sun or shade. This building is where all the common activities will be held. We also have access to the hot tub and the large roof sun deck, where we can also be nude. Keep in mind that these last two amenities are in separate buildings, and that we must be clothed whenever we are within sight of the street or any public area. Of course, there must be no sexual activity within sight of any public area; this activity should be conducted in the privacy of your rooms. While within the buildings, please take care to use your towel to cover any upholstered furniture upon which you will sit. We don’t want any unpleasant souvenirs to prevent us from being welcome at the Yellow Monkey in the future.

We will be renting the rooms for Friday and Saturday nights with a late check-out of 1PM on Sunday. Dave Labbe will be preparing hearty Saturday and Sunday breakfasts in the Tara Cottage, the costs of which, as well as the standard BANG event fees and NAC donation, have been included in the price of the rooms. Interested persons must book through BANG and pay BANG in advance. Anyone not booking through BANG, but booking directly with the Yellow Monkey, will be assigned rooms in other houses which will not be nude-only. Any such persons will be welcome to visit the Tara Cottage, permitted to participate in BANG activities, and enjoy the Saturday and/or Sunday breakfasts, but will be expected to pay BANG $14 per day for the privilege. Non-members may join us at member costs plus the standard $2/day non-member supplement. Day-trippers (people just visiting for the day and not staying overnight) enjoying the BANG activities and meals will be expected to pay the same $14/day event fee.

Dropped Rooms: Because of the non-BANG high-season room demand, we have not reserved any rooms in the Hideaway Building or rooms J and K in the Stone House. Anyone desiring one of these rooms should make their reservations directly with the Yellow Monkey, but must pay BANG a “day-tripper’s fee” (see above) to participate in BANG activities.

Pet-Friendly Rooms: If you’d like to bring your house-broken (non-human) pet, Room L in the Stone House , the Garage, and the Fitness Room (the two former garage buildings which share the parking lot with the Tara Cottage) are available. If these rooms are not reserved one week prior to the event, they will be returned to the Yellow Monkey for rental to other guests.

Transportation: It is assumed that people will be responsible for their own transportation. Free parking is available at the Yellow Monkey. For those without a car, two alternatives are carpooling and Amtrak’s Downeaster train service from Boston’s North Station to Portland, Maine, with a stop in nearby Wells, Maine, 6.5 miles from the Yellow Monkey. The train trip takes 1 hour and 50 minutes and costs $19 each way. The Yellow Monkey offers free train station pick-up and drop-off.

Room Sharing: If you want to share a room, please choose your own roommate(s) and make the reservations for all at the same time; we’re not a match-making service.

Reservations: Reservations for this event will be accepted on a first come first served basis. Because of this, we cannot guarantee that the accommodations you desire will be available when you make your reservations, so be prepared with an alternate selection. Last June’s response was a phenomenal success and everyone had a great time, so we expect a very lively response for this event. Don’t delay. Make your reservations ASAP. When reserving, please specify the room that you want, the number of people who will be sharing (as well as their names) and the number of nights. We expect most people to stay both nights, so remember to multiply the prices below by 2. RSVP via e-mail to events@bangma.org.

If all the BANG rooms are reserved, but you’d like to stay with us, please send us an email. We’ll try to negotiate a BANG rate for one of the other rooms. We can’t guarantee success – the Yellow Monkey will probably be totally booked that weekend. Alternatively, we’ll put you on our waiting list in case of cancellations.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Because we must pay for the rooms in advance, any cancellations received after June 14 will result in the forfeiture of the room portion of the fee unless we can fill the room from a waiting list. The $14/day BANG portion of the fee will be refunded. Cancellations received before June 14 will result in a full refund.

Prices: The prices and amenities for each room are listed in the table below. The prices are per person, per night member prices and vary depending on the type of accommodation and number of people in the room. The prices include taxes but do not include tips for the Yellow Monkey staff. Non-members, please add $2 per person, per night to the prices below.
